Old Crown Hotel

There were eight of us at The Old Crown, and we had a really lovely evening. The atmosphere was great and the food was lovely. Just one comment, not a criticism: at times only one person was behind the bar, taking food orders and serving drinks, so there was a bit of a wait. We'd definitely visit again.

The food was amazing, with a large selection of vegetarian options, and the pub itself was amazing too. The location is absolutely stunning if you like history and pubs. The rooms are old but well kept. Ours had a lovely boom in the bathroom to sit and read. Since it's an old building, at least the rooms we stayed in weren't really soundproofed from the street. That was clear to me when I booked, so it wasn't a surprise.

The pub noise was the only downside. Luckily we brought earplugs, which sorted it, but be prepared for noise as it's easy to overlook when booking. The building is beautiful, the staff very friendly, and we really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. Our room and bathroom were clean and nice, and there was a kettle with tea and coffee too, which we enjoyed :)

The Old Crown has loads of character, with period details still intact, though the old layout can feel like a rabbit warren. Watch your head on the low beams if you're over 6' tall, like me. We came for a pub quiz and had a great time. The staff made us feel welcome, the food was good, and everything was clean and tidy. We'll be back.
