The Aston Inn

The people working there were absolutely lovely, and dinner was a bright spot: I had a cheeseburger and chips, and it was delicious. The bed was really comfortable too. The room itself was a letdown. The headboard had come off the wall and was left leaning there, with holes where it had been fixed. The drawers had dirt and screws in them. The shower smelled damp and had mould, while the duvet cover had holes and the walls had dirty marks. The TV didn’t work at first, but the girl at reception came up and fixed it for me.

The rooms were nice, and I had one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in. Staff and the people who live locally were friendly, so the pub had a really good feel to it. It’s a great inn close to Villa Park. The pub has a pool table, a snooker table, darts, and a lovely beer garden, with a DJ at night. It’s all themed around Aston Villa, which my son loved.

We only stayed a night for a work thing in the centre. It was the only hotel left with parking, and although it was very basic, it turned out really clean with a great brekkie. No complaints, and I’d stay again. The bar staff and housekeeping were so friendly and welcoming. The other long-term guests staying for work were nice as well, which made for a great atmosphere.

We had breakfast in the morning, and it was delightful. We also sat in the pub playing cards for a couple of hours and had a couple of drinks. The beer was cold, and the place was clean and tidy. It’s easy to get to by car, with ample parking. The rooms were clean and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and super helpful. I’m not after fancy things, and while there weren’t loads of amenities, we had what we needed for a good night’s sleep and a hot shower in the morning. If you expect five-star service and fixtures, this isn’t that. I’d definitely come back.
