Fatima took especially good care of our room. She kept it spotless, decorated it beautifully, and made sure we had fresh water and a fully stocked fridge. Those thoughtful touches made the stay memorable. The rest of the staff were lovely too, always friendly and ready to help with anything we needed. We had a wonderful time and couldn’t be happier with the service.

We chose this stunning hotel for our 31st anniversary and fell in love with its atmosphere and architecture. Its central location made it easy to get around the city. The team made us feel looked after from the minute we arrived. Jurnaid made check-in warm and easy, and Sejal at the Madeleine Bar found us a superb table and gave wonderful service. Breakfast at Isaac’s was delicious, especially the Full English. Our room was very comfortable and cleaned impeccably. The Grand deserves all the praise it gets. Highly recommend it, the best hotel in Birmingham.

The Grand Hotel Birmingham felt fresh, clean, and well maintained, and check-in was quick. We booked three rooms. The Grand Double Rooms on the second floor were spacious, modern, and clean, with spotless bathrooms. The bar is a relaxing place with friendly, efficient staff. Prices are high, though, and complimentary nuts or snacks with drinks would be a classy touch. The first night was badly disrupted by a function. The bass was so strong that the second-floor rooms seemed to bounce, and we couldn’t sleep. Reception initially seemed reluctant to help. Once I explained that I was travelling with someone recovering from a stroke who had gone to bed at 18:30 and couldn’t sleep, they moved two of our three rooms to Grand Deluxe Double Rooms on the fifth floor. Those rooms were fantastic, large, clean, and quiet enough for us to sleep. The music carried on into the early hours. I’d asked for the duty manager to contact me, but they didn’t. Edit 11/06: Martina, the Guest Services Supervisor, replied, but no email came through to either of our addresses.

For my 54th birthday, a very good friend treated me to afternoon tea at the Grand Hotel. It was my first, and what a lovely experience. The teas, soup, sandwiches, desserts, and scones were outstanding. Belgique was especially attentive and took perfect care of us. The mackerel wrap was the only thing we didn’t enjoy. When she noticed we’d left them, she brought us extra sausage rolls because she knew they were our favourite. Huge thanks to this lovely waitress. I’d recommend the afternoon tea 100% xxx

I spent two days at The Grand Hotel Birmingham for a business meeting, and everything about the stay and event experience was flawless. The hotel does a great job of balancing its historic rooms with modern work spaces. The Grosvenor Ballroom and meeting rooms are striking, with restored plasterwork and huge historic chandeliers. The breakout areas feel sleek and comfortable, with long oak tables and plenty of natural light. There’s also a lot of history here that you might not find in a standard travel brochure. After falling into serious financial disrepair, the hotel closed in 2002 and narrowly avoided demolition. A meticulous £50 million restoration took nearly two decades to bring its historic details back. It has hosted Winston Churchill, King George VI, and Charlie Chaplin. The Beatles stayed in 1965 at the height of Beatlemania, causing chaos on Colmore Row, and Tom Cruise took over the top suites while filming nearby. The modern corridors also display a collection of over 200 commissioned works by local artists from Birmingham and the West Midlands.
