The Royal George Hotel

I was expecting a disappointing stay after reading some negative reviews, so I felt quite worried on arrival. Instead, things were much better than I'd anticipated. Everything was well organized, and check-in was smooth and efficient. The reception ladies were very friendly and professional, and their kindness helped me feel comfortable right away. It was a quiet, comfortable hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. I'd definitely consider staying again.

The place needs a serious upgrade and a lot of TLC. The internet was poor, with no service at all, and breakfast wasn't worth the money. It's a shame because this could be a nice hotel, and I understand improvements are difficult these days, but they matter. There are bed bugs and the place needs cleaning and treatment. I'd cut the number of rooms to seven or eight, make them good quality, and then charge £150 a night. The hotel needs to close for three months and have everything ripped out. The bar should close too, that's the only way to sort this out. The owner was abrupt and doesn't know how to talk to people. Disgusting place.

The property smelled unpleasant and was filthy throughout. Carpets hadn't been cleaned, and the wardrobe had disgusting dried streaks that looked like sick. The shower head was black with grime, while the curtains and public banisters had marks that looked like black mould. There was smashed glass all over the hazardous parking lot. Basic security and facilities were poor too. The main room door, bathroom door and window wouldn't shut or lock properly. The TV and WiFi didn't work, and the only light in the room was on the ceiling. This was an unacceptable stay, and the place needs a deep clean, maintenance and basic safety checks. I can't recommend it.

The rooms are dated, but ours was clean and the bed and bathroom were absolutely fine for £26 each. We were only six minutes from xoyo club, and parking was available onsite. The hotel joins onto a pub with Carling at £3.20 a pint and single wine for £3.10. Kim greeted us, and the women running the hotel and bar were lovely and looked after us so well. A £7 full English breakfast sorted us out after the night before. We’ll come back, thanks for having us. Ladies of Hinckley 💕
