Breakfast had a decent choice, the facilities were well kept, and nothing felt too busy or stressful. My room was comfortable and clean, with everything I needed, and the bed was cosy. It was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep, too. Check-in was quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was convenient for shops and places to eat. Good value for the price, and I’d stay again if I’m back nearby.

The lady at checkout smiled, asked how the stay went and whether we’d had any problems. She was very professional. Earlier, the man at reception hadn’t greeted us warmly or explained where the room or lift was, and only pointed us the right way after we asked. The security person also came across as rude and unfriendly. The room was nice, but we were surprised to find the windows on the 3rd/4th floor left open. The bed was so hard it gave me back pain. It’s a budget-friendly place in a good location, though the service and bed could be better.

I’d happily stay here again if I’m in Brum. The Super Room was clean, quiet and had everything I needed. It’s about a five-minute walk from New Street station, and I felt safe going to and from the hotel. Check-in was easy, though my card didn’t open the door at first. They sorted that out quickly. Free WiFi was included for the whole stay, and the code was in the booking email. A really good stay.

The main thing that concerned me was the fire alarm. When it went off, the staff seemed confused and panicked, and I didn’t get the sense there was a clear plan to evacuate everyone calmly and safely. The hotel was clean, but awkward to reach, and it sits by busy, noisy roads. Vehicles collecting rubbish from the storage area at the back were noisy too. We were there for one night for an event in Birmingham. The restaurant food was okay but overpriced, as were the drinks. Breakfast was a letdown: the bacon was rubbery and the food wasn’t very warm. I wouldn’t choose it, especially with other restaurants nearby.
