We found plenty of parking, and the fire made the place especially cosy on a cold day. The pub serves hearty, old-fashioned food cooked at home, and our meals were spot on. Friendly service and good value compared with other nearby pubs.

We enjoyed every minute, including the fireworks night, which was a lovely bonus. The food was fabulous, especially Louise's fish bake, and breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. Everyone made us feel welcome, and everything was spotless and comfortable. We loved our stay so much that we didn't want to leave, and we're already keen to come back.

We stayed overnight, and the hearty Yorkshire breakfast was a highlight: well cooked, nicely presented, and a great start to the day. The host and staff were lovely and happy to answer my questions about the area. It's a beautiful old pub in a very quiet village, and the menu has plenty going for it. Don't be put off by the restaurant menu online, since there are lots of specials at lunch and dinner.
