There are lovely walks with the dogs right nearby, since the cottage sits on the edge of Witton castle grounds. We also had a clear night with little light pollution and saw loads of stars. The cottage itself is beautiful, decorated to a high standard, and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful. Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. A lovely little place in Witton le Wear.

Bev and Mark were such accommodating hosts. We asked about extra outdoor seating, and Bev kindly brought us two more chairs. The enclosed garden overlooking a river was especially important for us with our three Golden Retrievers. Inside, Plum Tree Cottage was spotless and beautifully finished, and there are good walks nearby, plus a local pub and supermarkets a drive away. My husband and I had a fabulous stay in a wonderful spot to unwind, and we can’t recommend the cottage enough.

We had a barbecue in the garden and spotted so much wildlife during our short stay. Bev made us feel very welcome, and the cottage had everything we needed. It’s gorgeous and tastefully decorated, and the whole holiday was so restful. Best cottage stay I’ve had. We’ll definitely be back.

Bev is lovely and has thought of all the things you might need, with the essentials stocked and modern amenities throughout. We stayed two nights and it was just right for relaxing and switching off. The little cottage is stunning, and the fire made the evenings extra cosy with a glass of wine. Can’t wait to come back xxx

I remember delivering stone here when the cottage was first built, as my firm supplied it for the groundworks and I was driving a wagon then. Bev and Mark are a lovely couple, and Bev is a first-class host. The cottage has always kept its five-star rating for me. It’s in a wonderful place, with countryside to enjoy and furry friends welcome, so you can make lasting memories together. Book up and enjoy it, it could be anywhere in the world.
