We were so disappointed with our stay at Bloomfield hotel. Since we got no acknowledgment or resolution, it seems fair to tell others what happened. Our first room clearly hadn't been cleaned, with an overflowing bin and a filthy shower. The staff were nice at first, apologized and moved us straight away. The hotel was a mess because of work being done, but we chose to overlook that. The new room seemed cleaner, so we decided to stay. Later, getting back in through the front door took a few minutes because it was difficult to unlock, but we eventually got in. Then my partner tried the shower. The water was freezing until he turned on the sink tap to get the hot water going. After a few minutes, the shower suddenly became scorching. He burned his hand trying to turn it off and also cut his hand on the tap. The toilet wouldn't flush, and the room was full of flies. We didn't think we could sleep there, so we left. There were no staff around to report the problems to. We emailed the owners to explain, then had to find somewhere else to stay instead of the room we'd paid for. The next morning, an email came back basically saying we'd lied about everything, with no refund or other resolution. There was no apology, just disregard for the hotel's condition and our experience. We were lucky to find another hotel, otherwise I'm not sure what we'd have done. Don't let the good reviews fool you, they fooled us.

We couldn't bring ourselves to stay the night and checked out straight away. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows lumpy and the linen scratchy. The room was in a terrible state. Wallpaper was peeling, the carpet was stained and the bathroom smelled strange. Behind the drawers, we found a cigarette stubbed out on the floor and a pair of children's socks. The outside of the building looked run down and badly in need of upkeep, and a staff member greeted us rudely, as if we were an inconvenience. I've never had such terrible service. Checking into the Bloomfield Lodge Hotel in Blackpool was an immediate regret. The unclean room, poor service and uncomfortable bed made for a miserable stay. I'd never recommend the Bloomfield Lodge Hotel to anyone.

The room rate was very reasonable, and the hotel was clean and tidy throughout. Our double room was stylish, with an ensuite and a really comfortable bed. Breakfast choices were spot on, and the bar had a relaxed feel with plenty of space around the pool table. The owners gave us a warm, friendly welcome. We'll definitely be back.

The location made everything easy, with Pleasure Beach nearby on one side and the pier, pubs, bars and arcades on the other. Inside, the room and bathroom were clean, with fresh towels and bedding, plus tea, coffee and a TV. The owner was friendly and had a good sense of humour.

The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the host gave us a really warm welcome on our family trip last week. They were helpful with directions around Blackpool, too. I’d recommend the hotel, and next time I’m looking forward to trying breakfast in the new kitchen.
