We came for one night and loved our stay. The owner was lovely, polite and had a good sense of humour. The location is perfect, with easy parking and a tram stop around the corner. Our room was clean, bright and warm, with comfy beds and a big bathroom. Breakfast was 5*, the service was great, and they had proper coffee, a huge plus for me 😊. Would recommend.

I hope this saves someone else from making the mistake we did. My husband and I booked here because everywhere else was full, without knowing its reputation. The building looked shabby, but we went in and were checked in by a lady who was dripping with sweat and seemed very nice. Then we saw the room and were both disgusted. There was hair in the bed, including pubic hair. The towels looked second hand and marked, everything was dusty, and the mirrors needed a wipe. The bathroom tiles were disgusting, with hair and snot, and the shower was awful. All three mugs had marks on them. We asked for glasses and were given two wine glasses that looked used and were also marked, so we bought plastic ones from a nearby market. We couldn’t get the TV to work. My husband went to reception, which was unattended, and rang the bell twice before anyone came. A man, possibly the manager, came out looking furious and said, “I heard you the first time.” He explained how to use the TV, but it still didn’t work. When I asked for help, he seemed to get angry, so I went back upstairs and told my husband how rude he’d been. My husband tried again, but the man snapped, shouted that he could see it wasn’t working but couldn’t help because he was busy and fully booked, and said he had no other room. He was very aggressive, despite the state of the stinking room we’d been given. On the second morning, we expected at least fresh towels. Instead, they folded the same ones and gave them back. We stayed two nights and spent the days out, only coming back for a few hours to sleep. The only good thing was that breakfast tasted nice. The girl serving it sounded like a programmed robot and didn’t ask how we’d slept or how our journey was, or try to make conversation. Very poor customer service. We’d paid for the holiday and didn’t cancel because their cancellation policy meant we wouldn’t get any money back. It’s a shame that’s how they make their money. The only time we saw staff at reception was when we checked out. Definitely not a friendly hotel, and I’d never stay here again. Absolutely disgusted 😝😝😝💩💩💩

Breakfast was the best part, and the staff were really pleasant. The linen, towels, tea and coffee were good too. Still, after our weekend break on 19/10/2012, I’d say this felt more like a B&B than a three-star hotel. It’s old-fashioned and could use a proper refresh, including some new paint. For a short stay, it was just about worth the price.

I’m a security officer, and I was angry at being spoken to like that for no reason. The owner or manager came out and shouted at me and my girlfriend when we were standing on the step to shelter from the heavy rain while waiting for a lift. He swore at her, then told us to get the f**ck off his property. It felt like he judged us by the way we were dressed. Honestly, it’s left me disappointed in people. Don’t stay here.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and breakfast was very nice. The lady running the place was pleasant, and the on-road parking was handy. It’s a cheap, cheerful place at a good price. I’d stay again without a problem.
