Fairway Lodge

The location was good and the room had decent space, with fresh towels. But it was cold even with the heating on, and you could hear every sound in the lodge. There was black mould in the shower and behind the toilet, and the toilet leaked at the front. The TV was tiny. There was just one mug for two people, and it was dusty and stained.

There were 17 adults in our group, otherwise I would've cut our losses and looked elsewhere. The pictures didn't match the rooms. They were filthy, the floor was sticky and cluttered, and there were stains on the sheets, although they did smell clean. I found what looked like body fluids on the mirror and had to use wipes and even bleach on the bathroom before using it. The owners just handed over the keys without talking to us and didn't seem to know what they were doing. The beds were awful, one collapsed when I sat on it and another was lopsided with only two wheels. When I called about it, they had a spare room, but told me to take the wheels off the bed myself. The blind didn't work, the fridges didn't work, and I had to boil the kettle on the floor. I wouldn't bring a child here. No stars!

We met some lovely people and had a good stay. It's in central Blackpool, near the Tower and Central Pier, and the room was a decent size with a working shower. The place was in reasonable condition, the main building was nicely decorated, and the staff were pleasant. There's a bar with fair prices and karaoke. I particularly enjoyed the main bar lady's singing. Recommended!

It's clean and in a great location, so for the price don't expect a five-star place. The main hotel across the road, farther down the street, has a bar that's staffed all the time, and the staff there couldn't do enough for you. If you're older, try to get a lower room because the stairs are quite steep. We had a great few days.
