Jesmond Dene Hotel - Guest House

There was a strong damp smell in our room that even got into the bed sheets, and a patch of mould on the ceiling. When we raised it, the owner said she already knew about it and called it "not dangerous". I’m not convinced any mould is safe. The lamps and fan were also thick with dust. We were told there was no other room because the hotel was fully booked, even though the window sign said "Vacancies". I can only speak to our stay, especially since many other reviews seem to be about the previous owners. It could be a good place with some work, but our experience really wasn’t up to scratch.

ROOM NUMBER 2, UP STAIRS. For the price, it's OK and there's everything you need. But there were cigarette burns, the bed sheets and pillows were dirty, and the outside edge of the shower tray needed sticking down. I cut my foot badly on it twice. We didn't get clean towels each day.

The deluxe room was fantastic, and the breakfast was huge, cooked perfectly and kept us going until evening. Ron went above and beyond with the customer service. Just got home from three nights and I'll definitely return.

The room was spacious and very clean, and breakfast the next morning was excellent. The hostess was lovely and made us feel welcome. She offered to move us because the bathroom was a bit small and my other half is 6ft 2, but we found it perfectly adequate. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we look forward to coming back.
