Manor House Hotel

The breakfast had a great choice of hot and cold food, with lots of drinks, and the host was so friendly and helpful. My two children were also thrilled that the WiFi actually worked brilliantly, unlike at the other Blackpool hotels we’ve stayed in. The building is beautifully decorated, and our room was just right, with a fridge that was a nice extra. We’re here with the kids now and already know we’ll stay again. Best hotel we’ve had so far.

We were in Room 4, the family suite. The service was great, and the basement bar was a good spot, with a top-quality pool table, though drinks were expensive. The breakfast room looked very nice, but breakfast only runs from 8am to 8:30am. Our room was small but very clean. The bathroom was just OK, which worked for us since we only needed somewhere to sleep. There was a lounge area, though it wasn’t large enough for a family.

The proprietor was nice and chatty, though I heard more of his woes than I needed. For the price, we came away disappointed. The room was spacious and clean, but the bathroom needs attention: the taps didn’t work properly, the shower wasn’t right, and its clogged head only dribbled water. Breakfast looks fancy, with beans and tomatoes served in separate pots and juice and milk in little bottles. Portions are limited to one egg, one bacon, one sausage and so on. I asked for a fried egg instead of the usual poached one and was told they don’t do that. I didn’t bother asking about fried bread! There was no muesli either. Breakfast is only from 8 to 8:30, and by 9 everything was cleared away and set up for the next day, so my wife couldn’t have a second coffee with her toast and marmalade. The breakfast room was nicely decorated, but the so-called calming music made it feel like a funeral parlour waiting room.

We’ve just spent two nights at this superb place. Nick, the owner, is a caring guy and a qualified chef, and breakfast was great. The beds were good too, and everything was very clean and welcoming.
