We'd stayed at this hotel many times over the years, but our most recent weekend was dreadful. I came without my husband because he passed away in April. We went to scatter his ashes from Central Pier, as he wished. He's back in the happy place he loved now. I'm very grateful to the security staff for giving us time to do it. My husband couldn't come in person this time. In March, he'd gone to Blackpool with my son and son-in-law to watch a football match at Barrow, and they'd stayed at the Wynnstay Hotel and had a great time. Our last family visit here was two years ago with my husband, daughter and grandchildren. They all had a lovely time with Cheryl, John and Dot. It was the grandchildren's first time in Blackpool, and they bonded well with them. John was a real character, and we had many good times at the guest house. The food used to be excellent, with large portions. John would ask what we wanted for breakfast the night before, then take our evening meal orders at breakfast. Everything was cooked to order and piping hot, which is why we kept coming back. I booked with the previous owners in June and requested room 1, but they put me in room 10 at the back. It was very cold with no heating on. The new owner, Tony, was rude and shouted at me on Sunday afternoon. He called me a “silly old cow” as he walked into the lounge. His wife Florence was in the corridor and heard him, so I asked her if she heard what he called me. She didn't say anything to him. I was really upset. All I'd done since arriving was complain, apparently, because I'd asked for the heating to be turned on. They also charged a different price from the one in the diary and kept arguing with us about the price quoted by the previous owners, Cheryl and John. The hotel was cold and had a horrible smell when we walked in. The bedrooms were dirty and smelly, nothing like they were with the previous owners. There were cobwebs hanging down, dirty carpets and rubbish under the beds. Breakfast wasn't cooked to order either. On Monday it wasn't fresh, it had been left in the heated pots from the day before. Florence asked whether I'd had bacon. I said I didn't want any, thanks, and she asked where it had all gone, saying she'd cooked seven slices. She then went back to the kitchen and brought out cooked bacon on an oven tray, putting it into the dirty pot from the previous day's bacon. The owners told me they'd never run a guest house before and were only running it to make money for a cruise. I'll never return. Absolutely shocking 🤯 🤯 🤯 🤯

I didn't get to stay here at all. I booked a room well ahead in October 2024 for an event this year, then got a message today saying the booking was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances, with no warning. When I checked Booking.com again, the same room was still advertised for double the price. I haven't had a response from OYO or the hotel. Greedy and money-grabbing. Avoid unless you want to be disappointed.

We stayed for two nights in February 2025. The couple were really lovely and helpful. Since they weren't busy, they let us check out late and leave our car there while we went for lunch.

We'd just come home from two nights here, and the new couple running the hotel didn't seem to have a clue. When we arrived, they couldn't settle on what we should pay while trying to honour the price agreed with the previous owners. We paid the amount they'd agreed, but after we went out for the evening they decided we owed more. They complained about the previous owners' prices all weekend. The room was very small and dated, with cobwebs on the walls. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of choice and freshly cooked eggs. The new owners weren't very friendly or professional. The woman even made a rude remark about my mother-in-law having white hair at her age. There's no licensed bar. You can put your own drinks in a fridge in the lounge, but the owners turn it off quite often.

The ladies who looked after the hotel while the owners were away were fantastic. They kept checking that everything was okay and that we had what we needed, and nothing was too much trouble. We were there from 22-24 September for the Northern Soul weekend at The Winter Gardens. We knew the room was a small double, as advertised, and although it was a little small, we managed fine. Breakfast was hot, plentiful and delicious, with everything you could want and more. Well done, ladies. I'd definitely stay again.
