The place was awful. The floor was uneven enough to make me feel drunk, there were little holes in the skirting boards that probably had a mouse crawl through, and the wall had holes too. The window wouldn't shut fully. There were two plugs, both far from the bed, and they looked like they'd been installed by a drunk. The room was cold when it was minus 2 outside, the water wouldn't run hot, and the bed was uncomfortable enough that I could feel the springs. You also have to leave a £50 cash deposit "just in case'". Go elsewhere.

I went for two nights with my children, who are 8 and 9. The rooms were run down and downstairs looked old, but our sea view was lovely for the price. We paid £140 for the two nights, and I got my £50 deposit back without any problem. There was a small car park at the back and we found a space. Check-in and checkout were easy, the reception staff were lovely, and the man behind the bar was friendly and great with my kids and the other children. I met a couple who stay there every month. The central location worked well, with a tram stop nearby. There's no lift, so carrying our suitcase up the flights of stairs was hard, although I think they'd have helped if I'd asked. Our room had fresh linen and was clean, and the TV had loads of channels. Free WiFi was great for the kids and me. It felt cosy and comfortable, and the entertainment was on too. My kids have special needs, and I felt relaxed there instead of worrying about them making noise. I'd go back. I asked about adding another night. Since it was Saturday, it would have been £140 for that night. I'd have paid £70, and it might be better to offer a deal to guests who want to stay on than leave the room empty. I'd recommend the place.
The location and the view were the only good things about this hotel. The photos were shocking compared with how worn down it is now; maybe it looked like them 10 years ago. They asked for a £50 deposit when we arrived. Our room had holes in the walls and roof lights hanging from the ceiling. The carpet was dirty, and there was a horrible smell from the bathroom. When we told a staff member, he said he couldn't smell it. The room was so hot and smelly that we packed up and headed back to Scotland just seven hours after arriving. We lost £55, and they don't give refunds whatever the circumstances. Don't waste your money.
The room was warm, clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly when we arrived. My favourite part was chatting and playing pool with the main man dave. He might be one of the nicest guys I've ever met, and we'd go back to this hotel for his banter alone. All in all, a very good stay.
I stayed here yesterday with two of my daughters. Everyone on staff was polite and helpful, and the rooms were spotless and smelled so clean. Karaoke at 8 30 was brilliant, and I had a laugh with the barman. I don't understand the 1 star reviews, to be honest. Great for families, and we'll definitely book again. 5 stars!
