Shiray Hotel

The room was tiny, and so was the TV. There were shared shower rooms, no sinks for filling the kettle, and wet floors after people had used the showers. The shared toilets were cluttered with other people’s products, baby toilet seats were left on them, and toilet rolls were piled in the bathroom instead of one being provided in each room. The bar was horrendous, with ripped furniture. Breakfast looked messy and disorganized, with old stock. I asked for extra pillows and got a sofa cushion. The towels were tiny, including one small blue towel and small hand towels. We were constantly moaned at for having the TV on and talking, and told to be quiet. There were cigarette butts outside, and the flowers had strange little things on them along with lots of air freshener. Never again.

We got great value for our trip at this cheap and cheerful place. Caroline was exceptionally helpful, friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us.

The owner seemed nice, but only spoke to us when we arrived and said goodbye when we left. I stayed one night with my partner and two kids. The hotel was very clean, but our room felt muggy and much smaller than the rooms my friends had. The bathroom was tiny too, and my partner had to use the toilet elsewhere because his knees touched the door. The shower door wouldn’t lock.

The room was small, but had everything you need, and the shower was spot on. I stayed one night with my partner, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Staff were happy to go out of their way to help. No complaints, we’d happily stay again.
