The ribs were probably the best I've ever had, tender enough to fall off the bone, with a brilliantly dressed salad. I also loved the steak burger. John set out to make one people would remember instead of another generic menu choice, and he exceeded my expectations. The apple cake with soured cream was divine, and the other dishes I tried were great too. I spent nearly two weeks in Blewbury and made The Red Lion my local. As a travelling salesman, I'm used to branded hotels, standard restaurants and convenience, so finding this pub in a small Oxfordshire village was a real delight. I've eaten all over the world, but honestly, nothing has come close to this hidden gem. The bar has a friendly, welcoming feel, with an open fire and board games, and that cosy British country pub atmosphere. The restaurant has the same country pub character, with traditional pub food alongside a Ukrainian menu that really brings out Eastern European flavours. Jasper and Dom were knowledgeable, well trained staff, and the choice of wine, spirits and ales was outstanding. I tried new cognacs and whiskeys, as well as a pinot noir I hadn't come across before. Every evening was a treat. If you're in Oxford or passing through the area, you'd be disappointed to miss John, Annabelle and the team at The Red Lion.

We ended up here because the other pub wasn't serving food that day, and I'm glad it worked out that way. This was a smashing little find at the end of a small road, with plenty of parking. The Ukrainian food was superb, especially the herring dish and delicious apple crumble cake. Prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. We plan to come back. Thanks!

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was friendly, attentive and spot on. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. The Christmas lunch was absolutely outstanding, with beautifully cooked, flavourful food. We left genuinely impressed and are already looking forward to coming back. Can't wait to try the Sunday roast, if it's anything like that lunch, it'll be fantastic!

We loved everything we ordered from the Ukrainian menu. The duck main and all three desserts stood out, and our friends really enjoyed the schnitzel and herring dishes too. It's such a gem of a pub, one of the best in Oxfordshire, I'd say. Cute, gorgeous and full of character, with warm, smiley staff. Can't wait to return!

The vegan roast was a proper, thoughtfully put together plate, not just substitutions, and my friend loved the pork too. The hosts were lovely and really accommodating. Fabulous roast, and I'll 100% be going back for food.
