The Claremont Inn

The welcome was very friendly, and the room was immaculate. The bed was comfortable and it was ideal for our overnight stay, with a convenient spot near the seafront and town. Parking was the one problem: there aren't many spaces, and there are double yellow lines and permit parking all around.

The customer service was terrible. The pub was always shut, and the cleaner was the only person we spoke to. The internet signal was shocking, and people in the nearby flats were loud. There's more I could say, but I'll leave it there. I won't stay here again.

The outdoor stairs turned out to be fine for my 78-year-old mum, even with her walking difficulties. They’re sturdy and have railings. We were there for just one night while attending a funeral, and Sam made us feel very welcome, helped us with everything, and was flexible about what we needed. After a difficult day, the friendly barman at the pub was a real comfort too. Our family room was a bargain, spotless, and had thoughtful little extras and tea-making things. The beds were comfortable, and the bedding smelled fresh and clean, which matters to me because I’m fussy about linen. For the price, we got much more than expected. If we’re back in the area, I’d choose it again for a clean, good night’s sleep. Definitely recommend.

Looks like a recently refurbished pub, and it’s really nice. I’ll definitely be back.
