The gardens are well kept and everything inside is spotlessly clean. The locals make you feel at home, and it’s a lovely pub. There’s a varied menu with freshly prepared food for everyone. The homemade bread and pork pies are worth getting, but call ahead to reserve because they sell out quickly. Sunday lunch feels like home cooking and is reasonably priced. The staff are welcoming too.

The hosts were friendly and chatty, and the room had a relaxed, welcoming feel. It’s furnished with a nice mix of traditional sofas and armchairs alongside more modern lighting. There’s plenty to choose from on the menu, with home-cooked food and puddings. I really enjoyed the meal. A place I’d recommend visiting.

Karen knows how to cook good vegetarian food, which is such a treat. Everything I’ve had there has been really delicious. It’s become one of my favourite places to unwind with friends, welcoming and comfortable. I’ve been in more over the past three months than in the previous twenty years. It’s such a lovely place now!

I went in hoping to have a meal, but was told they only took phone orders. The restaurant was empty, yet my girlfriend, our baby and I were turned away. I also overheard the woman saying to another customer that she only lets a select few people into her restaurant. I’ve never met such a rude woman in my life. I can’t imagine the business lasting long if she carries on like that. Go to the Bricklayers Sunday diner instead, it’s five stars, and at least the staff are pleased to see you.

The banoffee pie is so good, so save room for pudding. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful, happy to do whatever they could. What a fabulous country pub!
