Hampton by Hilton Bournemouth

I was there alone for one work night in a twin room. The staff were all welcoming and friendly, and the bed linen and bathroom were spotless. The carpet had stains and could use an upgrade, though it wasn’t dirty. During a very cold spell, I found the room chilly even after having the air on its highest setting for a while, but the shower was lovely and hot. It’s near the cafes, shops and beach, though at the top of a big hill. I’d recommend it for the price.

The breakfast buffet is included, generous and tasty, and there’s a parking deal. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent. It’s a fairly new building with a small gym and some rooms with sea views. I’ve visited twice, and the quality had gone down on my second stay. Room 538 had a view; the room wasn’t immaculate but it was still functional.

My brother and I brought our elderly mum and dad to Bournemouth for one last seaside trip, to the place where they used to take us as children. Dad is end of life, wheelchair-bound and needs constant care, so it was always going to be a huge challenge. The hotel staff did everything they could to make our stay easier. The two lovely girls at reception and Connor, who looked after the evening bar, deserve a massive thank you. The hotel was beautifully clean and well appointed, and the staff couldn’t have been more pleasant or helpful. Breakfast the next morning was perfect, with even a gluten-free section for my brother. This is an example for all hotels to aspire to.

The staff are outstanding, lovely and friendly, and make you feel welcome. We love staying here. On this return visit the room was still really nice and comfortable, though not as good as last year’s amazing one. The bed had seen better days and could do with replacing, and there was a slight odour in the room. Neither issue was bad enough to spoil anything. They were just a couple of niggles, and I wouldn’t mark the hotel down for them.
