The Manchester Hotel

The bed was comfortable, the location is good, and the staff were helpful. That’s about all I can say for it. My room smelled of smoke, the carpets looked dirty, and the silicone by the sink was black. The toilet handle was broken, and after two nights water slowly started dripping through the ceiling. My “fridge” froze everything, and both the cold and hot taps ran hot water. The place needs a lot of work.

The location was the one thing I liked. The corridors smelled awful and felt like somewhere out of a horror film, and the staff generally didn't seem interested in helping. My first room was dusty, with things like the wardrobes falling apart and a TV that didn't work. Then a lamp came loose from the wall, so I asked to move. The replacement was better, though still nothing special. If you feel claustrophobic, you might want to ask for a room on a higher floor. I wasn't sure about the underground rooms, but they made me feel that way. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The price is affordable, but keep your expectations modest.

The breakfast photo shows what was served to the whole hotel, around 40 people. The milk in the picture was left in my room when I fled in disgust, and later I found it on the breakfast table. It looked like room leftovers were being served to guests. At checkout, they also tried to scam me. The place is falling apart, smells of mold everywhere, and charges about what a usual hotel does. Worst place I've ever stayed. Choose carefully, because staying there came down to giving up self-respect and dignity.
