THE NICI Bournemouth

The staff made our girls' weekend with my mum feel special from start to finish. They were friendly at every step, from taking our bags at reception and getting them to the room to arranging our beds separately. The breakfast waiters checked in regularly, too. Even before leaving, we're already talking about coming back for my birthday and breakfast another time. It was a birthday treat, and we were upgraded to a beautiful sea-view room. My mum had a decorated plate and card waiting, a thoughtful personal touch. The bathroom was amazing, I loved the shower, and having conditioner was nice. Our bags were in the room when we returned from going out, so check-in was easy. The bed and pillows were super soft and comfortable. There was lots to choose from at continental breakfast, including amazing yogurts and a great juice selection. We loved the hot oil during our massages, and Ana was really friendly and thoughtful about the little details. Fruit and water around the facilities were a nice touch. It felt like a proper girls' getaway, from the indoor fire pits to walking to the spa in our dressing gowns. Thanks to the Nici team, we had a brilliant weekend 😁

The staff were the best part for us. Everyone we met was so friendly, attentive and welcoming, and we'd definitely return. Our room was lovely and peaceful, away from the bustle downstairs. The Nici feels stylish and uplifting, with a striking new look and Miami-inspired touches throughout. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we liked the complimentary banana rum shot to start the break. South Beach had a great atmosphere, and the Valentine's afternoon tea looked beautiful and was presented perfectly, though the flavours were a little bland. The spa looks stunning, but it felt busy during half term. It's fairly small, with only a few beds, so relaxing fully was a bit difficult.

Ana gave me the best massage I've ever had, and my partner's was very good too. Waiting in the relaxation room was lovely, with hot herbal tea available. We also enjoyed the included restaurant lunch. It was light, which suited us for heading back to the spa afterwards. I'd come again and hope to use the outdoor space when it's warmer. We booked this birthday spa day for four people four months ahead, but had very few emails beforehand. We only got a call the day before to say we needed flip-flops, which wasn't helpful as we were already staying at another hotel. The spa itself is small, with limited seating: one long bench, one little bench and about six double loungers. People often left towels and belongings on loungers without using them, and nobody seemed to monitor it. Our group was there from 11:00-13:30 and again from 14:30-16:00, but never got a lounger. Several people kept their things there while having lunch. It rained heavily in late February, so going outdoors wasn't an option. The outdoor area was open, but freezing, which was a shame. It would also have avoided the problem of people holding loungers.

Scout was an amazing server at the attached South Beach Bar. She was sweet, attentive and knew the menu well, and the themed drinks were delicious. My family and the rest of our travel group had a brilliant time there on our only night at The Nici. We wish we could have stayed longer. The room was fantastic and comfortable. We recommend the Garden Suite, though we didn't get time to enjoy its hot tub. The tropical beach decor is done well without feeling kitschy, and gave us the feeling of being on holiday.
