The Piccadilly Hotel

The hotel’s close enough to walk to the beach, restaurants and town. It also has a bar and restaurant. The beds were comfortable, the room was lovely, and the place was extremely clean throughout. The air conditioning was a big hit. The staff were polite and really helpful. We asked for extra coffee cups and spoons, and they’d been left on the table in our room by the time we got back from being out for the day. We’ll definitely return and recommend it.

There’s no room service during your stay, but reception can provide extra toilet paper, towels, tea or coffee. Reception is staffed for most of the day and can help with requests. We had a room card mix-up on our last day because of confusion over our checkout date, but it was sorted very quickly. The rooms were lovely, and parking costs £10 per night. I always found a space, whatever time I got back.

The room was small, but it had been newly refurbished and felt modern. It was clean, the shower pressure was good, and we slept well. We booked a small double at short notice and arrived just before midnight. The night porter checked us in, friendly, helpful and efficient. Parking was £10 for 24 hours, handy if you want to leave the car while visiting the beach and town. It’s a 15-minute walk to the pier and beach. The three reception staff were friendly and efficient at checkout, and could answer questions about things to do and places to eat in Bournemouth. Good value, and I’d recommend it. I’d come back if I’m in the area.

By the end of the week, I could appreciate the comfortable bed, free WiFi that usually wasn’t terrible, free parking and convenient central location. The staff were friendly and helpful when they were around. When we got back between 9 and 10pm, reception was usually empty if we needed milk or toilet roll, though a man from the restaurant would often get us fresh milk in a jug. At first I wasn’t keen on the place. It needs a spruce-up in spots, including carpet cleaning, and the shower heads could do with replacing.
