The food was tasty and good value, with our meal and shared bottle of wine costing under £60. My husband had the lamb shank Sunday roast, and I had the vegetarian Wellington roast. The restaurant looks pretty run down from outside, though it’s nicer indoors. It was busy, so book ahead, but the staff were quick and attentive. My only criticism is that the Wellington pastry was overcooked. I was only eating the inside as I’m on a diet right now, so it was fine. I’d recommend the place.

The staff are friendly, and there’s plenty of seating inside and out at this pleasant spot on cliff road. We went for Sunday lunch and spent about an hour and a half there. There were lots of reserved tables sitting empty for most of that time. The roast beef was tough. The food was OK, though its quality has slipped compared with years ago, and the menu has become much smaller than it used to be.

The Spyglass and Kettle has a lovely setting and a great atmosphere, but our family meal was spoiled by the wait. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food to arrive, which is far too long. The staff were polite, and the food was decent once it came, but the kitchen seemed to be struggling with demand. I hope they can get the waiting times down.

Dylan and his team made my family and me feel very welcome and comfortable over the Easter weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beer was lovely and cold, and the wine was chilled. There was a great atmosphere, too. The location is ideal, just a stone’s throw from the beach with lovely walks along it. We had a lovely time, would highly recommend staying here, and will book for the summer. It’s a great choice for a weekend away.

It’s well placed for the beach and good value for money given the location, especially compared with other local places. We had an overall good stay for a 2/3 star pub hotel. The rooms are a bit tired, but the bed and shower were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of evening meals and drinks. I’ll definitely stay again.
