Farthinghoe is a lovely village that seems to have changed very little, and there's a good pub there. The cottage was cosy, with everything we needed. The heating kept up even when it was -5 outside, and the extra fleece blankets were nice to have. We had a peaceful stay, and sometimes spotted sheep or even deer in the wood at the bottom of the garden.

The quiet setting and outdoor space made this feel like a home away from home, and our Labrador loved it too. Jackie was a wonderful host. I was nearly 30 weeks pregnant, and she did everything she could to make sure I was comfortable. My husband, our dog and I stayed here last year after coming back to the UK from Australia while we waited for permanent accommodation, and the experience was better than we could have hoped for. If we're in the area for a longer stay again, this would be our first choice.

The village is lovely, and so is the pub. The room was good, apart from the cleaning. There were four well-preserved flying things on the windowsill, along with a spider's web, and the sheet on the downstairs bed had a mark on it. Otherwise, it was good.

You can sleep up to six people in the barn, which has everything you could need. If anything is missing, the lovely owners do their utmost to help. It's in a pretty village with a local pub serving food. Great accommodation.
