Fines Bayliwick Hotel

The hotel needs a complete refurbishment. It was very dirty, and when we asked to have the bed changed because the sheets were soiled, the fresh towels we got had blood stains on them. The bathroom smelled, and it still did after I told reception. There was something on the toilet roll too, and the reception staff smelled of alcohol. I’ve since emailed the hotel several times to complain and haven’t heard anything back. I won’t be returning.

I slept really well, with clean, fresh, comfortable bedding, and the facilities were clean too. This is my second visit, and both times I’ve had a very warm welcome, with excellent service. My triple room could use a spirit level 😆. A few pictures were wonky, and it could do with a headboard. The place has loads of charm, though, and I’ll be back.

The mattresses were battered, and the rooms had a strong musty smell. The whole building creaks so much that at 5am you can be woken by any movement upstairs or next door. There was thick dust on most surfaces, apart from the bedside table and desk. The linen and towels were clean, but the place overall was drab, dirty, and badly in need of a proper clean and refurbishment. It’s a budget hotel about 18 minutes from Legoland Windsor, with good parking and triple rooms. For experienced travellers, I’d say it’s worth £50 a night, but any more feels insulting. Most people would probably freak out at how dirty it is. Please ignore the fake reviews calling this a great, clean place. If the reviewers haven’t left lots of reviews elsewhere, they’re fake. After I posted my review, the owner replied with something racist and dishonest. I asked for two extra pillows and was given one, not six. I didn’t leave the room in disrepair, though it was in the state I described in my review. They also claimed it smelled of Pakistani takeaway food because I’m of Pakistani origin and must smell of Pakistani food. I suppose that makes sense coming from the Indian owners. We didn’t eat any food in the room at all, since I’d found it filthy and unfit for eating in. As my reviews show, we’ve stayed in plenty of hotels. The owner’s response tells you all you need to know about the hotel. Maybe spend more time dusting and less time trolling. For posterity, here’s the owner’s response below, since I’m sure they’ll delete it: “Response from the owner 2 hours ago Dear Iqbal, Dear Iqbal, We respectfully disagree with the feedback provided. Daily, all rooms receive comprehensive cleaning. As a courtesy, we provided six extra pillows, supplementing the six already on the bedding. Our staff was dismayed to find your room in a state of disrepair, including an unpleasant odor of Pakistani takeaway food!!! It seems this is your inaugural experience bringing your family to a hotel, and they were notably overwhelmed. You should not be allowed to stay in any hotel.”

Whenever I come to Bracknell to see my children, this is my first choice of place to stay. The rooms are a bit dated, but the beds have all recently been replaced and are super comfy. I had a fantastic night’s sleep. The staff are always welcoming, helpful and polite, and there’s great parking. For what you get, I think the price is extremely reasonable.
