The boerewors I cooked on the BBQ that evening was first class and tasted just as authentic as I remember from living in south Africa. I only popped in for boerewors and pap, but the queues were enormous, since lots of people seemed to be buying meat in bulk. I was facing a long wait when the butcher at the first meat counter on the dry food side kindly went to the big meat counter to fetch my sausage. It's a rare place to find southern African products.

The meat was good quality, with all sorts of cuts, and the prices were excellent. For anyone who loves meat, this place is heaven, though cooking it properly is another question! Some staff were a bit rude and short on customer service, which was my one issue. Still, I ended the day enjoying a t-bone steak. We also tried the on-site restaurant, which was really good and well priced. Give it a shot.

It was nice to visit and find oma rusk and rooibos tea, things I'd been importing all along.

The fish was much cheaper than at Asda, with much larger cuts, and red meat like beef, ribs and lamb was a little cheaper too, apart from minced beef. But pork and chicken cost more than Asda, and I was disappointed to find the chicken was frozen. For a farm, I wondered why it wasn't fresh. The birds were a bit bigger than at Asda or Tesco, but I still prefer those shops because their chicken is fresh and cheaper. I don't think I'll go back, as there are cheaper places in Bradford. A colleague had told me meat here would be cheap. When I visited, it was packed, and the line ran from the entrance to the exit. It took about an hour to get through. They stock all kinds of meat and other items aimed more specifically at African food.

It's a lovely butcher with a good meat selection, some Southern African spices and confectionery, bulk meat boxes, and friendly staff. Prices are good, though the SA delicacies have got a bit crazy. Weekend parking is nearly impossible, but you do eventually get a space.
