The Opulence

We were uncomfortable during the stay and wouldn't book this apartment again. It was a last-minute choice, and my first time staying in Bradford city centre. The photos made the place look much more lavish than it was. I've stayed in several apartments, and this was my worst experience. We also felt uneasy about the atmosphere. It seemed more like a young lads' pad or somewhere for a casual stay than a relaxing place for couples. When we arrived, we saw three lads carrying full boxes of nitrous oxide canisters into another room in the apartment block. The cleaning and finish were poor. There was dust, mould on the window sills, dirty switches and sockets, plus dirt and limescale in the toilet corner. The floors were dirty, wires were visible, and both rugs had crumbs on them. The curtains were partly broken, the lampshade was dusty, and the sofas had small holes. We even found empty tights packaging in a drawer, so it didn't feel as if the apartment had been checked properly between guests. There wasn't much cutlery, and despite having a kettle there were no tea cups. The towels we were first given were damp, so we had to contact the owner for replacements. The place looked lovely in the pictures, but the actual apartment didn't live up to them at all. I genuinely felt catfished.

Everything we needed was there, and they even delivered some extra things. I'd booked at the last minute, and they made arrangements for me. I've already booked my next visit. Genuinely the best service.

It's centrally located, and at first glance the room looked amazing. But the sheets had hairs on them, the pillows were worn and there was dust around the room. The toilet wouldn't flush, the remotes had no batteries and the towels were torn. For the daily price, what you get is substandard. You can't ask people to pay for such low quality service. Wouldn't recommend it.

We had no real option but to stay in the replacement room because nowhere else could take us at such short notice on New Year's Eve. They did take some money off the price, but it still wasn't good enough. We won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We'd been excited about our NYE stay because the room we'd booked looked amazing. I'd been messaging the owners or staff during the week beforehand, and they said everything was as it should be. When we arrived, we found ourselves in a different room, with no warning. Only after messaging the owner did we learn that the room we booked had electrical problems. I understand that can happen, but they could have told us while we were in touch, so we could have booked somewhere else. It came across as money greedy. The bed was broken, the remote batteries didn't work, and we couldn't change the bedroom LED lights. The toilet flusher only worked if you forced it. Then at 3:30 am an alarm woke us up, and we had to contact the owners again so they could reset it. When we were leaving the next morning, we met the owner outside and explained how disappointed we were. He replied, “well at least we accommodated you.” That wasn't good enough, and it was shocking to treat guests like that.
