Great Lodge Barns

As a hair and makeup artist, this is one of my favourite venues. The cottage has loads of space for extra artists when the bridal party is big, and the prep room is bright, roomy and cool. The grounds are incredible, and that barn, I could move in! Can't wait to come back and see the alpacas.

The little touches here make a difference, especially having plenty of time to set up. Couples can make the place feel like their own, and every wedding ends up different. Guests have room to mingle and the atmosphere feels relaxed. Great Lodge is my favourite barn wedding venue in Essex, and every time I photograph a wedding here I'm struck by how picturesque it is in every season. There are lovely spaces for getting ready, an outdoor ceremony area, and a timeless indoor setting for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and party. From the vineyard to feeding the alpacas, there are beautiful details everywhere, and the team are lovely. I'm always excited to return.

We spent two nights here midweek and used the lodge as a base for visiting nearby places. The quiet rural setting was just what we appreciated, away from all the hustle and bustle. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and we couldn't have been happier with the stay.

The accommodation was clean, tidy and felt like a home away from home. Our family stayed the night of the wedding and had no complaints. The venue itself is out of this world, and even though it's on our doorstep, hardly anyone we knew had heard of it. Everyone was amazed by how stunning it is. Taz and her team were attentive all evening and gave fantastic service. Rebecca helped coordinate the day, staying so relaxed and laid back that we got the wedding we'd dreamed of. Five stars all round. We can't wait to come back for other events the venue runs. Thank you so much from everyone at Great Lodge!
