The beds were comfortable, the woodburner was great and the location was nice. But after a week over New Year at the Esk Broch, my family and I felt the place didn't justify the £2000+ price. The accommodation was freezing: the thermostats seemed to control the heating, but boosting them barely warmed the rooms, and at 5am the kids' room was 14 degrees. We booked largely for the pool and private hot tub. The woodfired tub couldn't be used because its log firepit was full of water. The pool area had lovely views, but the water was really cold, and the jacuzzi jets didn't work. The unit looked fairly modern, though the living room sofa needs replacing. The honesty farm shop was a nice touch. We bought food for the Highland cows, but the payment iPad had logged out and needed a password, so I couldn't pay the £3. As a business owner, I think a heated main pool, updated hot tubs and a sauna, along with some extra TLC, could make this a mini five-star resort. During our stay it felt neglected and poor value.
