We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and very clean. The food and drinks we bought were high quality. It’s a beautiful, atmospheric building and very conveniently placed for exploring the Brecon Beacons.

The room was comfortable, and the service and food were very good. Breakfast was missing one thing, though: there was no white bread. What annoyed me was having to pay for parking when the website specifically said it was free.

The hotel is well located in a handsome building, and the staff were friendly and attentive. But there were several little maintenance problems in my room: the sash window rattled in the wind, so I wedged it with the room service guide; the table lamp bulb was blown; the toilet roll holder had come away from the wall; and the bath plug wouldn’t release, so I had to leave the water for staff to empty. These are minor things, but I’d expect more attention to detail. I was told my meal allowances would be refunded, but I’m still waiting to receive them. I booked through Marston's central reservation site, where I was offered breakfast and meal allowances, which I paid for. Before booking, I called to check whether the kitchen would be open on Christmas Day, but the phone rang out and the call ended. When I arrived, I was told the Christmas Day meals were fully booked. Reception suggested there might be a cancellation if I came in, but then said that wasn’t possible. As a result, I went without food that day until some fellow guests walked to Morrisons Service Station and bought microwave meals for us all. The central reservation system was offering meals that weren’t actually available. Well located, good staff, flawed booking system, and rooms needing minor repairs.

A good pub food restaurant, with lots of different cuisines on offer. We had lovely meals and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend for good, no-nonsense food.
