The food was the letdown. The cod burger tasted good, but for nearly £17 there wasn’t much fish in it. The pizza had a decent tomato sauce, though the base seemed premade, it looked pale, and the meat was grey. Outside, it’s a bit rough around the edges by the water, but the pub itself feels rustic, with games inside and friendly staff.

There’s a good range on the menu, including vegetarian options, so everyone should be able to find something. The river views are lovely too. The garden could do with a tidy, and the outside tables could use a fresh coat of paint to brighten the place up.

Our first two stays here were fine, but the third was a completely different experience. We felt very unwelcome. It’s understandable if there isn’t space, but there’s no reason to belittle people who want to stay and spend money at your establishment.

The staff were super friendly, and I had the tastiest mulled wine. It’s a lovely place to visit if you’re around the city, especially for a walk through such a historic spot. Give the pizza a try too, you’ll love it.

The pizza was absolutely beautiful and the service was friendly. I was disappointed to see cobwebs around the windows, so I took off a star.
