The Down Inn

We spent two nights at the Downs Inn and had a really enjoyable time. The rooms were quiet, clean, and warm, the staff friendly and very helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. There was a varied, plentiful selection of excellent food. We had the carvery on the first night and steak and kidney pie the next. The desserts left little room for anything else! We chose the cooked breakfast both mornings, though cereal was available if we'd wanted it. I'd recommend this pub hotel wholeheartedly.

Seven of us stopped in today on our way back from shopping in Ludlow. We'd booked for 5pm, but realised we'd arrive early. The pub had no problem fitting us in. The service was excellent, the servings generous, and the food delicious. The atmosphere was lovely, and the wood burning fire made it feel especially welcoming. We'll be back and will recommend it to family and friends.

The local clubs meeting here gave us a good feeling about the place. We’d visited before and came back for lunch and a pint, remembering the traditional menu and pleasant setting. It’s relaxed and subdued inside, with lovely dark wood and a homely feel, and the welcome was warm. The portions were generous and the food was excellent value. Prices are surprisingly low for the location, which I’m certainly not complaining about. We’ll be back, it’s a bang-on spot. Well done. 👍👍👍

We had a family meal and all three courses were spot on. I went for the carvery and tried three meats, all very tender. Good value, with attentive, helpful staff and a nice atmosphere. It wasn’t busy when we arrived, and we had a lovely experience.
