The Old Mill was warm and homely, and the farm felt peaceful from the moment we arrived. My partner and I spent a weekend there with her son, and the farm dog Tess played with him every day and joined us on our walks. The walks and wildlife were special, and everyone we met was friendly. The farm sits among nearly 400 acres of old English farmland, right in the middle of Somerset, with easy access to Somerset and Devon. Booking was quick and painless, and Liz, the owner, was accommodating when we had questions or needed anything. Waking up to the quiet there felt like being taken back to childhood. It's the best holiday I've had in years. There's a lot to see and do, so I'd come back for a week or maybe two. A lovely traditional English break, in summer or winter.

There are three barn-style villas on the farm, about a 10-minute drive from Taunton, with access to the A385, A375 and M5. London Airport is around three hours away by car. Each villa is fully furnished. The living and dining area has a TV, two comfortable sofas and a table with six chairs, plus doors opening onto an outdoor patio. The kitchen is fully fitted with white goods, utensils, crockery and cutlery for larger groups, and there's a washer and dryer. Bedrooms and bedding arrangements vary by villa, with fitted wardrobes for storage. The bathrooms are tiled and have toilets and showers. The gardens and green grounds are lovely, with plenty to do. I'd highly recommend staying here for a big group, whether it's a family weekend, a girls' or boys' weekend, or an event.

A rooster and four hens greeted us outside the door in the morning, a lovely bonus. The house was spacious and pristine, and the farm setting was so peaceful. We also had a hot tub and sauna to ourselves. Fabulous holiday.

The hot tub was amazing, and the owner was very helpful when we rang to book it. We had a lovely walk up to the meadow and met some very friendly cows. The place was spotless and comfortable, and very quiet, so it's not a good fit if you want lots of interaction with people. Great for a peaceful break, though I wish the weather had been better.
