The cabin was nicely turned out, with a bed-sitting room, separate kitchen and shower and loo. I stayed for a few days. The pool at the Fernhill Hotel has a faded charm, and so do its surroundings. It was heated to slightly warm, and it's amazing it's still running, given what it must cost to keep going. Still, I was glad to get a swim in. You book the pool by phone between 10 and 12, paying by card over the phone. It's open from 10 to 17:00 and costs £2 per person for an hour.

It’s closed for the season at the moment. Call first to check they’re open so you don’t make the trip for nothing.

Number 51 was tidy, with modern furnishings, great beds, and nice bathrooms. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, and the holiday homes sit in a spacious, natural setting with a residential feel. You can also rent access to the pool at the neighboring hotel.
