The location was the only upside. The room was dirty and didn't match the pictures in our booking. The hotel was mostly unmanned, we couldn't get the WiFi password, and there was no signal inside. I was especially concerned about security. Someone taking out the bin happened to let us in, as there seemed to be no other way to enter. They asked whether we had a booking, called someone, and then showed us a WhatsApp message with our room assignment and the main door code. The person asked me to photograph the message and code from their phone. While doing so, I could plainly see the codes for other rooms too. That left me worried that other people could photograph our room code in the same way. Because of the safety concerns and dust that was a problem for my girlfriend's allergies and asthma, we had to book somewhere else. I spent a long time trying to get money back through customer service, but they declined. Booking.com, where I made the booking, was no help with compensation either.

The entry and exit system worked, and the location was excellent. That's about it. The bedding was stained and disgusting, the bed was rubbish, and there was nowhere to park. The toilet was so small I could barely fit in it. The walls were paper thin, so the people next door were at it all night and I felt like I was watching a live show. I couldn't sleep, partly because of a constant noise from the window that sounded as if someone was trying to break in. I suppose you get what you pay for. Next time I'd rather spend that extra £30 for somewhere much nicer.

We got an email with our room number, but the room was awful and dirty. Two people could barely fit, the bathroom was so small you couldn't turn around, and there was lipstick on the pillows. When we were about to head out, a man came into our room. He'd been given the same room as us, so he could get to all our belongings. Hotel management were unhelpful and didn't seem to understand the problem. We were moved to another room, but the bathtub was rotting, the windows were rotting too, and the bed was horrible. We barely slept because every person walking around the 'hotel' could be heard. The photos aren't accurate. Don't put yourself through the trip from hell that we had.

We paid only 65 EUR a night for a deluxe double, and got a clean, spacious room that felt almost luxurious. The location was great, and the room and price helped make this a five-star stay. Service was excellent too. It was handled by phone through a management company instead of in person, which was totally fine with me. They let us check out late and were very gracious about it. The building is very old and you can hear neighbours in every direction, though it wasn't too bad. The rooms aren't isolated, and the window insulation is poor, so winter might be uncomfortable here.

The room was clean and well kept, with a kettle, hair dryer, TV, and heater, all more than enough for a budget stay. Some of the decor and fittings are showing their age. Still, under £45 for a double room is an absolute steal, and the hotel offers excellent value for the price. It's around a 10-minute walk from the pier, which makes it a handy base near the seafront. The place is unmanned and uses an access code, which worked smoothly while I was there. A good fit for budget travellers wanting somewhere clean and convenient.
