We loved the cottage’s Alice in Wonderland theme, with so much care put into the details. We kept noticing new little touches all weekend. It was clean, cosy, full of character and had everything we needed. The quirky outdoor loo was a fun surprise. David was lovely to deal with, helpful and quick to reply throughout. Looking Glass Cottage is right in the Lanes and close to the seafront. It’s a lively area, so there’s some noise at night, but that’s Brighton. It didn’t bother us much, and earplugs were provided just in case. We had a brilliant time and would recommend it if you want somewhere with personality and a bit of fun.

Walking down the sweet narrow lane to Looking Glass Cottage was enough to let all the usual stress drift away in the sea air. Staying there felt like tumbling into a strange, magical underground world. It’s cosy, comfortable and well equipped. A little fire casts a lovely soft light over the playing-card wallpaper and all the carefully chosen finishing touches. There’s something new to spot every time you look around. I’ll leave the details for you to discover, but do look for the themed wall decorations from bed. The beds were clean and comfortable too. There were plenty of takeaways and restaurants nearby, even though some were only open after the pandemic. We cooked once and ordered in twice, all very easy. We also walked around the Lanes in the evening, seeing the pretty lights and new bright street paintings, and took a daytime beach walk into Hove. I can’t recommend this lovely cottage enough. One day, when gatherings are allowed and we can fill all the rooms, we can’t wait to try Wonderland House, its big sister.

A cosy, comfortable and magical little spot in the heart of Brighton. Well worth a visit!
