Homestay Bristol - Hostel

Friendly staff, clean facilities and breakfast things provided. The hostel itself was clean and simple, and not too noisy. Our 8-person dorm was very cramped, though, and we had trouble checking in at 2pm because the room wasn't ready.

The bathrooms were tidy and the showers did the job. Despite the poor curtains and windows, the mattresses and bedding were good enough for me to sleep reasonably well. There was a strong rubbish smell from somewhere near the top of the steep stairs, though. The rooms make very "efficient" use of space, so if two people need to get past the bunks, somebody has to climb out of the way. The club next door blasts bass until 4am, which lets you carry on partying, and the long uphill walk gives you a chance to sober up after inner-city drinks. Cheap and cheerful, then.

Breakfast never had enough for everyone. And if a proper night's sleep is what you're after, this isn't the place: it's just outside the party area, but there's a club nearby going from 11pm until about 4am.

It's about the same price as most Bristol hostels and a nice place overall. One or two rooms could do with quite a bit of work.
