Mercure Bristol Holland House

Breakfast was fresh, very good, and had lots of choices. The dining room was nicely arranged, and the staff were so kind and lovely, definitely 10 points for them and another 10 for breakfast. This was our second stay here, but the first was much better for cleanliness. This time the room felt very old and needed refurbishment. The sheets didn’t look clean, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly, and the air conditioning wasn’t working. We used the fan, but with no windows to open, the air felt poor. I like fresh air from outside, and I didn’t sleep well.

The room was roomy and looked out over the water, and the city centre was just a short walk away with everything close by. We had a wonderful weekend, thanks to the Holland House team. Reception were especially helpful and went above and beyond, and both breakfast and dinner were amazing. Service was immaculate. The pool had closed the week before our visit, which was a little disappointing, but it didn’t affect us much since there was plenty to do nearby.

The only drawback was finding the gym and pool closed, and it seems they have been shut for some time. The room was lovely, clean, and spacious. The bar and dining space were really nice, and breakfast was buffet style with a good range that was well stocked.

We slept well and had a pleasant stay. The room had a grand style, though some fittings need attention, including a bathroom door that wouldn’t close properly. The food was good quality, especially breakfast, and alternative milks were clearly labelled and available. Dinner was good too, but the room felt cold and lacked atmosphere. The hotel is handy for exploring Bristol, close to the harbour and within easy reach of restaurants and places of interest.
