We had a lovely birthday weekend for a surprise 70th booking in mid-December. The house is beautiful, with stunning period features, and we were upgraded to the Admiral Suite. It had a great sea view and a period wrought iron balcony. Pip looked after us very well, and we were lucky with the weather. Thanks, Pip 😊

I stayed in room 6 while family had hired the whole house. Quite a few things needed attention. The bathroom window wouldn’t close, the sink wouldn’t hold water, and a pillow had no case, just a yellow-stained protector. I couldn’t open the bedroom sash window because its cords were broken, so I used a step stool to prop it open. The drawers wouldn’t open, leaving me to keep my clothes in my suitcase. The radiator knob just spun around, and it was awkward to reach behind the drawers anyway. The snug settee needs a thorough clean or replacing. When the TV remote slid between the cushions, I lifted them and found debris underneath. The kitchen cupboard fronts were greasy and hadn’t been wiped. Also, don’t park under the tree, my car was covered in bird poo. The house could use a proper repaint and decluttering of personal items. I’d have liked pictures of the local area instead of places elsewhere, like st.michaels mount in room 6, and larger towels in addition to the small bath towels. I left all of this in the suggestion box. Having won four in a bed with another property and owning a holiday let myself, I expected better attention to detail, especially with the whole house being let out.

A proper home from home, with a great location and a spotless, very comfortable room. The host was so friendly and welcoming, and there are plenty of breakfast choices. Thanks, Pip.

Those sea-facing lounge and dining rooms, plus the big garden, made a lovely place to unwind. After five nights walking the coastal path and staying in different places, this was our favourite, and the bunk room was very good value. Breakfast was the best too: local kippers and poached eggs on gluten-free toast, along with bacon, sausage, muesli, nuts, fruit and anything else you wanted. The host managed to be friendly and efficient without any fuss. Perfect.

The garden was a lovely spot to catch the sun, and our room had a nice sea view. We only stayed two nights with our dogs while travelling to Cornwall, and wished we could have stayed longer. The room was clean, the bed really comfortable, and breakfast had everything you could want and more. It was very dog friendly. Pip, his daughter and the gentleman serving breakfast on Saturday all made us feel welcome. Thanks so much for the hospitality, from Julie, Paul and the fur babies.
