The Shoalstone

That separate guest lounge is a lovely spot, with sofas and a great view of the ocean. Our room, no. 2, felt like home, bright and modern, with lots of space, a huge bed and spotless throughout. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated, and Gary and Sara were such lovely hosts, doing everything they could to make us comfortable. Breakfast is cooked to order, with plenty of options and fresh ingredients that clearly felt high quality. The harbour and Berry Head are both walkable. We’ve travelled a lot over the years, and this is definitely one of our favourite places to stay.

Set along the road towards Berryhead, it’s well placed for walking up to the Fort, and Shoalstone Pool, fed by seawater, is close by. The Breakwater is nearby too, with the harbour just beyond. Most rooms have stunning views, and Gary and Sara are warm, welcoming hosts who’ll cater for your needs. It’s bright and clean, with a lovely breakfast choice and rooms finished to a high standard, even the single rooms. It isn’t advertised for families, but seems perfect for couples. A real home from home and a winner in every way.

We felt very welcome at The Shoalstone and would definitely come back. We stayed for two nights at the start of July, and loved the decor. Everything was lovely and clean. Our room had seats by the bay window looking out to sea, what an amazing view! We pre-ordered breakfast, which was delicious and seemed to use local produce, including homemade jam.

Gary and Sara are lovely hosts, and nothing feels like too much trouble. The B&B was immaculate and beautifully presented, with a stunning view from our room. Brixham harbour is an easy five-minute walk away, and the location is perfect. Definitely recommend.
