The meal today (16/12/25) was horrendous. My steak was so tough I could barely cut it, and the roast beef was tough too, served in small pieces. It’s a real shame to see the food decline so much at this lovely old place. Our first visit lived up to a good friend’s recommendation for wonderful food, great ales and excellent staff. The second time, the food quality had already dropped considerably. This was our third visit to the Falcon this year, and it’ll be our last. I won’t recommend it to friends or colleagues. The breakfast was a lovely finish to my stay, and the hotel itself has loads of character. My single room was generous in size, with a really comfortable bed. I was there for a local wedding, and the staff were brilliant throughout. They let me check in early and even helped me find parking when the car park was busy.

There were three of us, and we all enjoyed our meals: roast beef, beef shin and roast pork. The portions were generous and good value, with great service too. Even the little touches were nice, like fresh flowers on the tables and bread made locally. The homemade puddings were generous as well.

For my night on a motorcycle trip to Wales, I booked the basic single room. The bed was comfortable, and there was an ensuite, a private off-road car park and a courtyard. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the food was great, especially the freshly made bread. I’d happily stay again.

Everything we ate was excellent and homemade, right down to the bread and ice cream. The staff were friendly and attentive, and I’d highly recommend the place. There’s a dog-friendly lounge area too.
