We’ve just come back from our third winter break at The Crown and Castle, and had a wonderful time. The food is gorgeous, especially the daily fish specials, and breakfast is exceptional. Pinney's kippers and poached eggs are a favourite, and the sourdough from Pump Street bakery is delicious at both breakfast and dinner. The rooms are delightful, with thoughtful touches like a flask of fresh milk for morning tea. Service is warm and attentive without getting in the way, and we felt truly looked after. Although it’s billed as a restaurant with rooms, it surpasses many highly starred hotels we’ve stayed in. We’ll be back, of course.

Our group of ten had a delicious Sunday lunch at The Crown and Castle, and the service was impeccable. They handled everyone’s dietary requirements without any problem. It was the highlight of our weekend in beautiful Orford. Thank you!

I’ve been twice now and already have a third visit booked. This is my favourite place for Sunday roast. The whole roast chicken for two is cooked beautifully, they get all the trimmings just right, and the service is excellent.

A real treat. We spent three days here on a midweek trip and found a comfortable room, great staff and super food. It’s an excellent country hotel in a lovely part of Orford, Suffolk.

We stayed in May 2023 and loved the hotel. It had clearly just been renovated. I made a mistake and booked the wrong week, but the staff were amazing and sorted it out for me, even getting us an upgrade. We had dinner and breakfast there, both of really high quality. I can’t recommend it enough. I did recommend it, in fact, and our family visited just four months later and had a similarly great stay.
