The one thing that could work better is the bar setup. It's a long way from the lounge, through the restaurant and next to the breakfast room. After dinner, I saw people settle in the lounge hoping for a drink and a chat, then leave because the hidden bar didn't serve them there. A drinks trolley and call button could improve the evening atmosphere and probably help the hotel's bottom line too. Aside from that, we had an enjoyable couple of days. We were warmly met at the main entrance, checked in with little fuss, and given a quick tour of the ground floor amenities while our suitcase was taken to the suite. The suite had lots of character. Some people may not appreciate an older building's charm, but I was happy as long as it was clean and comfortable, which it was. The staff were generally accommodating and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were perfectly acceptable, especially for the price.

I booked for eight of us and we had private dining in the conservatory. The food and drink were great, the rooms were divine, and the scenery is amazing. We would all come back, and I'm very grateful. The Hall is superb, a piece of history that deserves respect. It's just been taken over, and the new team, including Ellen, who knows so much, and Morgan, are outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble, and your stay is personalized for you. x

We went for afternoon tea for my mum's birthday and were shown to our own sofa by the lovely fire as soon as we arrived. The service and food were both excellent. The manager's guided tour was a lovely extra too. Definitely worth a visit, and I'm hoping to bring my wife for an overnight stay.

The Mother's Day afternoon tea was gorgeous and beautifully presented, and the location was absolutely lovely. The staff were very attentive, with duty manager Ellen going above and beyond. I'll definitely recommend it and come back.
