We’ve been back several times, and the easy access to lovely short walks is a big part of the appeal. The lounge and dining room have great views, and we were given a lovely welcome. The only drawback for us is that the beds are too firm. Otherwise, it’s fab.

The downstairs bedroom is very large, so I could get around it easily in my powered wheelchair. Its adjoining wet room, with a shower, WC, handbasin and lovely spa bath, was more than adequate, though my disability meant I couldn’t use the bath. I rely entirely on my powered wheelchair, and this was the best-equipped place I’ve stayed away from home. My family found even more disability equipment in an upstairs cupboard, including a hoist, monkey pole, hand aid grabbers, long shoe horn, manual wheelchair, alternate shower chair, perch stool and lap trays. Mr and Mrs Luther had thought of everything. The rest of my family were impressed with the facilities too, and we all loved our stay in this beautiful, spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage. The owners’ granddaughter had even made lovely lemon drizzle buns to welcome us. Buckden is a wonderful spot in the Yorkshire Dales, and I’d recommend the cottage to disabled and able-bodied guests alike.
