I wouldn’t stay at The Globe Inn again. We got no reply to emails before check-in and had to pay the whole bill in advance. I only learned the gate code because I asked, otherwise we could’ve been locked out all night. The room was very basic and nowhere near worth £80+ a night. It’s called a B&B, but breakfast isn’t included and apparently has to be booked ahead. Nobody told us at booking or check-in. The only notice we found was a tiny note on the back of the door the next morning. The toilet didn’t flush all weekend. After we reported it, we returned to a flooded bathroom with towels dumped on the floor, and the toilet was still broken. There were no toiletries, not even soap. When I later asked about that, I was told supplying it was “too expensive.” For these prices, that’s ridiculous. There were tea bags but no milk, so we couldn’t even make a cup of tea. The wet-room floor also has no slope, so a shower floods the whole bathroom and leaves it that way. They promised a partial refund after we complained, but it was only £20 against a £160 bill. No communication, no breakfast, no working toilet, no soap and no value for money. Book somewhere else.

The food was hearty, very good and had that homemade feel. The meat toppings on our pizza were generous and melted in your mouth, though the base was hard and didn’t work for us. We left quite a bit of it and mentioned it to the chef, who knew there was an issue after they’d recently switched suppliers and hoped to sort it out. We stopped here while travelling a few weeks ago and were greeted warmly. It was a cold, drizzly day, so sitting by the wood burner was perfect. We arrived a little early and waited for the kitchen to open, then the food came in a reasonable time. The soft drink options were limited, perhaps because they were out of stock, but it wasn’t a big deal. It’s a friendly local spot with lovely food and a great log burner. If you’re visiting, note that the attached car park is council-run and limited to a one-hour short stay. There’s a long-stay car park a little further down the road.

We had a fantastic time celebrating my daughter’s birthday in the function room, and I’ll definitely be booking more events here. The staff were friendly and helpful, and let me decorate the clean room how I wanted. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. The atmosphere was lovely, and the food was wonderful with amazingly big portions. Thanks for such a great experience.

Our chocolate labrador was made to feel very welcome, and the staff and locals were friendly too. The Sunday dinner was lovely, with the plate piled high.

We stayed one night and had dinner here. The food was amazing, the room was tidy and clean, and the bed was really comfortable. It’s a traditional country pub with a real gem of a feel to it. The barman and landlady were fantastic and very friendly. I’d happily recommend the Globe Inn and come back.
