We especially enjoyed the log fire during our autumn visit, it made the evenings really cosy. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. Buckie is just a few minutes away, with Elgin also easy to get to, so it’s a handy base for exploring the area. We’d happily stay here again if we return.

The woman who let us in was really lovely and helpful, and gave us a good introduction to the place. It’s a new building with two bedrooms, a living room, a large bathroom and kitchen. There’s plenty of equipment, including central gas heating, a dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge-freezer and everything needed to cook. There’s also a fireplace with wood supplied and parking for two cars. Fresh eggs and milk were nice to find, as were the toiletries in case you’d forgotten something. The local pub and a bus stop are nearby.

We were very happy with our stay and would gladly come back. The host and her son were both lovely and helpful. There’s lots to explore nearby, from beaches, caves and rocky spots such as Bow Fiddle rock, Spey bay, Sculpture's cave and Sir Robert's stable cave, to a beach walk near Portgordon harbour. Buckie is the closest larger town, pleasant for a walk or for shopping. We visited in winter and were lucky to get snow, so we had fun at Lecht ski centre, about an hour’s drive away. The cottage itself has everything you need, and the little details make it feel like home. We appreciated the welcome pack with farm eggs, milk and biscuits, and found all we needed in the kitchen and bathroom, even travel items like shampoo, shower gel and toothpaste. Thank you!

You can tell someone has really thought about guests’ comfort here. There was a different colour towel for each of us, plus a beach blanket and cooler, toiletries for anyone who forgot theirs, and an easy WiFi password. They’d left good quality eggs, cookies and milk, and supplied a dishwasher, washing machine, blender, laundry and dishwasher tablets. Firewood and heatproof gloves were there for the fireplace too. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some things, but the care for guests was clear.

Everything was great, and we had no problems.
