The Gold Room’s own balcony and seating were lovely, and the views from the property are hard to beat: sea, greens, golf course, cricket square and the slight hill leading back into Bude town. Just be aware that there are stairs to climb. I’ve only marked it down slightly for that. The Green Room is on the ground floor and may suit some people better. Chris welcomed us warmly as soon as we arrived and soon brought us a lovely cream tea. The meals were lovely too. I couldn’t manage all the dinner courses, and asked for a smaller “Cornish” breakfast than the one on offer. We’ve been here before, so we already knew what a lovely little town Bude is, with its distinctive small shops. There’s plenty to do nearby: good shopping in Bideford, a lovely garden centre for rainy days and nice beaches when it’s sunny. A tip for finding Pot & Barrels’ own car park: the first time, it’s a little tricky. As you approach, you’ll see a sign saying 'Penarvor Apartments Private Parking'. Ignore it and drive through. You’ll be where you need to be. Enjoy.
