From booking through to leaving, we were looked after extremely well, and communication during the booking process was great. The room felt cosy and homely, with thoughtful extras. We had an excellent dinner there and breakfast was excellent too. The owners had only taken over a couple of months earlier and were clearly working hard to build up the business. We wish them every success.

The new landlady gave us a lovely warm welcome, and the food was amazing. The braised beef pie is the best I’ve ever had! My husband had the lasagne and thought it was excellent. Everything was freshly cooked and faultless. With new owners and food like this, I’ve high hopes for the business.

We went as a family for Sunday lunch today after hearing a new chef had started today, 22/06/25. What an improvement! The potatoes were delicious and crisp, the meat was perfect, and the vegetables were superb. Owner Sally is so friendly, the pub has a brilliant atmosphere, and it’s changed so much. Everything looked lovely and clean, and there’s a new cleaner too. Please give the new food a try, and maybe book a stay as well.

The building is nice, but every surface had a Monopoly table set up, so there wasn’t a table or chair available. The owner seemed like a total game-player. Wouldn’t recommend.

We travelled to Stratton for Sunday lunch and it was well worth the trip. It’s a great little pub outside Bude, and we’d heard there was a new chef. The food was hot, delicious and plentiful, with a good choice. The desserts looked top drawer, especially the bread and butter pudding. Chloe and the other staff were happy and helpful. We’ll be back. We saw some bad reviews, but didn’t have that experience at all.
