The room was a real letdown at £210 a night. Although it had a lovely bay view and a roof terrace, there was no hot water in our bathroom, no sink plug, and nowhere to hang or store clothes apart from coat hooks along the wall. Without a plug, we couldn't wash or shave using hot water from the kettle. Our friends in the next room had no hot water either. When we raised it with management, they said the kitchen downstairs had hot water, no other guests had complained, and plumbers were really hard to get in the area. We asked for a discount and got £20 off each room, which they said was the best they could do. The location and bay views are great, and we enjoyed a tasty dinner and breakfast served by attentive, good humoured staff. The restaurant and bar service is good, and the place is clearly popular.

What a fantastic dinner. My cheeseburger was perfectly cooked with butcher's meat, not processed rubbish. My daughter's halloumi burger had thick-cut cheese and a lovely caramelised onion chutney, and my wife's veggie curry was rich without being too spicy. We finished with sticky toffee pudding, ice cream, and strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake, and were absolutely stuffed. The staff were welcoming and polite, service was quick, and we never felt rushed. Dogs are welcome too, which is great. We'll definitely be back soon!

The food was nice, and Crackington haven is a lovely spot. Having a car park at the pub is a real plus, especially since the main car park needs coins, which feels a bit outdated these days.

The weather was a bit dodgy, but we still had a weekend to remember. Coombe Barton inn is well placed, and the welcoming, efficient staff made us feel right at home. Our room was spacious and nicely done. The restaurant was packed, yet the team handled the rush easily and both the service and food were really good. I had locally caught Hake, cooked perfectly. We’d happily stay again.

The evening meal was good, but that was the one clear positive for us. Our room looked very tired, and despite sharing a bathroom, we paid the same as guests with an ensuite. Breakfast was included, though the continental choice was very sparse. Having stayed in plenty of hotels and B&Bs, we don’t feel Coombe Barton offers value for money at these prices.
