The Castle Inn

We got quick, friendly service, and they were happy to accommodate us when we arrived just before 9. It’s a beautiful traditional pub, with excellent cooked-to-order Chinese food. The house rose was excellent too. Thoroughly recommend it to anyone in Bungay or nearby.

The old house is lovely inside, and our room was quiet, so I slept really well. Breakfast was an amazing full English. The gentleman serving seemed a bit put out when I asked for tinned tomatoes, though. I could tell there’s real care about food quality, but I still prefer tinned ones. Thanks, I’ll definitely recommend you. The pictures say it all.

We stopped for a drink and stayed for dinner, then listened to live music. The Cambodian chef turns out cracking curries and some of the best spring rolls around. The Asian food here is the best in Norfolk / Suffolk, and the vegetarian menu is huge, with far more than the usual dull pub dishes. It’s a great venue, the staff are about the friendliest you’ll find, and the band was very talented, playing great tracks. There’s a lovely pub garden for summer too. Closed from Jan until Feb 14.

I went in just for their fabulous fresh orange juice, which is hard to find on sale. Everyone was so friendly. Thanks so much, guys, for looking after me.
